Catch Up With Rob And Mary MacLeod On Sojourn!

Rob and Mary MacLeod with Lori Mason - August 2009

They're back - Rob and Mary that is - and they are still living on Sojourn their CS36 even after their nine-month cruise to the Bahamas and then back to Canada.  You see, Rob was an experienced boater and cruiser, while Mary could best be described as a fair-weather sailor. Rob had a dream to sail to the Caribbean while Mary had reservations. Mary eventually said 'yes' to a year long cruise - but under certain conditions.  And that's their story, documented on their blog

Rob and Mary will be telling their story at the 2010 Port Credit In-Water Boat Show, under the speaker's tent.  Listen to a frank discussion of what worked and what didn't and how Rob and Mary survived a year in small quarters, beat the cold, wet winter and arrived safe and sound back on Lake Ontario, only to continue living on their boat. It's the side of sailing and cruising that we never hear about!

The Port Credit Boat Show Speaker's Tent is sponsored by InformedBoater.com.  Wally Moran joins us for a second year sharing his experiences about cruising down the Inter Coastal Waterway (ICW). Wally is a contributor to the Waterway Guide, SAIL Magazine and Ontario Sailor. Ken Gillstrom of Voyageursailing.com and Katrina Lewis of Openwaters.ca will discuss learning to boat – power and sail. Both Ken and Katrina are boating instructors – basic, intermediate sail and power. Ken will talk about getting into boating (power and sail) and preventing emergencies on board. Katrina will expand the dream with a talk on learning to sail in the Caribbean. We will also be joined by Dusty Miller of Waterwaysontario.com who provides hands-on tips on handling your power boat.
